Program Overview

Dual Degree Program students will earn two bachelor's degrees—one from Trinity College Dublin and one from Columbia University.

The first two program years at Trinity consist of 120 ECTS credits/60 Columbia points, followed by two years at Columbia (128 ECTS credits/64 Columbia points). Students entering the Dual Degree Program prior to the Fall 2026 term are also required to complete 30 ECTS worth of additional modules for Trinity while at Columbia.

Years Three and Four

After completing their Senior Fresher year at Trinity, Dual Degree Program students will matriculate at the Columbia University School of General Studies (GS).

Students will pursue a major that aligns with their Trinity program of study, as well as fulfill requirements for the Core Curriculum, one of Columbia University's longest standing educational traditions. View the list of Trinity programs and corresponding Columbia majors.

Advising

From the beginning of the Program, each student is assigned an advisor at both Trinity and Columbia who will guide them through academic and student life, providing support as they pursue their goals in two stimulating academic settings.

Transfer Credit

Dual Degree Program students work with their Columbia advisors to determine how their coursework at Trinity will be credited toward their studies at Columbia.

Academic Resource Center

The ARC is dedicated to helping students cultivate the skills necessary to manage competing demands, deal productively with setbacks, and enthusiastically approach challenging situations both in and beyond the classroom.

Center for Career Education

The Center for Career Education offers a wide variety of resources not only related to the internship search, but also major choice based on career interest, graduate school coaching, and specific information for international students.

Undergraduate Global Engagement

Columbia University’s Undergraduate Global Engagement Office offers several study abroad programs that students can apply to for academic enrichment or to complete Columbia core requirements. The most popular programs are the Art and Music Humanities Program available in either Berlin or Paris. Students should review the programs on the Undergraduate Global Engagement website and discuss their interest with their Columbia academic advisor.
