Yes, Columbia does offer credit for approved exams at the high school level. We currently evaluate exams including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, French Bac, A-Levels, and Irish Leaving Cert. Your academic advisor can help you evaluate those credits once admitted to the program.

Dual Degree students are fully integrated with the larger population at both Trinity and Columbia. There are no separate, Dual Degree-only classes, as you are considered a fully enrolled student while attending each university.

No. No two students complete the Core in the same way; moreover, given the unique nature of the Columbia undergraduate environment, classes at Columbia contain a mix of age ranges and class years.

Class size at Columbia varies from class to class. In general, classes are lectures or seminars, with courses in the humanities and social sciences entailing a significant amount of written work and classes in more quantitative subjects requiring problem sets and exams.

Yes. Dual BA Program students are eligible to participate in a wide range of student organizations while at Trinity and Columbia. Both universities offer a wide range of clubs and societies in the arts, politics, identity, culture, sports and recreation, and more.

While students are studying at Columbia in years three and four, they must obtain coverage with an American health insurance provider, either through the Columbia Student Medical Insurance Plan or, for some U.S. citizens and permanent residents, through their parents’ health insurance plan. Columbia University does not recognize international insurance plans for health insurance coverage while students are enrolled in Columbia classes.

No. You must choose between one of the nine Arts and Humanities or STEM programs at the time of application.

No. The Dual BA Program does not offer Early Action or Early Decision application options. other undergraduate schools or programs, including other international dual degree programs, at Columbia University (Columbia-Sciences Po Dual BA Program, Columbia College [CC] or The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science [SEAS]). Nor are candidates eligible to apply to the School of General Studies, including the Dual BA Program, if in the last three years if they applied to any of these divisions and were not accepted.

No. The application for the Dual Degree Program between Trinity College Dublin and Columbia University cannot be found on the Common Application. Please apply directly through our website.

Dual Degree Program students in the first two years of the program will be charged the Trinity College Dublin rate, and for years three and four they will pay the Columbia University tuition rate. For information on specific tuition rates, visit the Tuition and Fees page.
